Children and young people are involved and empowered
This pilot programme is being delivered within the Special Treatment Unit at Rimutaka Prison
The pilot is designed to develop an intensive group treatment option for young men aged under 25 years who are imprisoned for serious violence. It recognises the need to provide better therapy options for young men who often return quickly to prison after release and who, due to behavioural problems, remain untreated in higher security settings.
The pilot will run from March - October 2022, and an evaluation is expected to be completed in December 2022.
