Children and young people are happy and healthy
Mana Ake is a holistic mental health programme that seeks to support primary and intermediate school children to be resilient, and experience positive mental health and continued engagement in learning.
The programme is being rolled out nationally over 5 years and will be adapted to ensure responsiveness to local communities using local co-design.
The expansion of Mana Ake began in five new DHB areas; Northland, Counties Manukau, Bay of Plenty, Lakes and West Coast, and involved co-design work.
Budget 2022 provided $90 million of funding over four years for the Mana Ake programme to enable ongoing service delivery in Canterbury and Kaikōura, and start new services in Northland, Counties Manukau, Bay of Plenty, Lakes and here on the West Coast.
The full Mana Ake programme is set to benefit around 195,000 primary and intermediate aged children ..
